چکیده

This paper presents the results of an operational modal analysis on a self-supporting antenna mast. The structure is instrumented with seismic accelerometers, which are moved in different setups for detailed characterization mode shapes. In addition, eight strain gauges installed, two at bottom each leg tower. Two particular challenges highlighted. First, due to symmetry tower, bending modes occur pairs near identical natural frequencies and orthogonal These shapes change from one setup another, complicates merging partial obtained setups. Second, acceleration signals polluted by radio signals. It shown how these issues solved, resulting identification five modes. identified very close those predicted finite element model where vertical columns modeled using beam elements connections between braces assumed pinned. confirms validity such models assessment dynamic response lattice towers under wind loading.

Polymax: a Revolution in Operational Modal Analysis

Recently the superior performance of the PolyMAX modal parameter estimation method using frequency response functions was demonstrated. The method can be implemented in a very similar way as the industry standard polyreference (time-domain) least-squares complex exponential method: in a first step a stabilisation diagram is constructed containing frequency, damping and participation information...

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND STRUCTURAL OPTIMIZATION OF SELF-SUPPORTING TRUSS TOWERS TO SUPPORT A LARGE WIND TURBINE

This article aims to study the self-supporting truss towers used to support large wind turbines. The goal is to evaluate and validate numerically by finite element method the structural analysis when the lattice structures of the towers of wind turbines are subjected to static loads and these from common usage. With this, it is expected to minimize the cost of transportation and installation of...

Damping Estimation using Operational Modal Analysis

It has been observed that even though modal frequencies are well estimated using Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) techniques, damping estimation is not as accurate. The opinions on this aspect of OMA have been widely varying and no consensus or definite answers are available. In this paper the OMA procedure, data processing and modal parameter estimation, is studied with respect to proper dampi...

Frequency Domain Techniques for Operational Modal Analysis

Operational Modal Analysis, also known as Output Only Modal Analysis, has in the recent years, been used for determination of modal parameters of civil engineering structures and is now becoming widely used also for mechanical structures. The advantage of the method is that no artificial excitation needs to be applied to the structure, or force signals to be measured. In this paper, the non-par...
